Reinwood Junior School

Giving Roots to Grow

Pupil Wellbeing

At Reinwood, children’s well-being is at the heart of everything we do. We promote positive mental health and well-being for all throughout school. All classrooms are equipped with a calming, therapeutic area where children can self-regulate and take time out when needed.  Mindfulness exercises are used regularly in our classrooms to promote calm and focused learning environments.

We regularly take part in “themed days”, such as World Happiness day and Hello Yellow Day, where children explore a range of well-being themes such as regulating emotions, sleep hygiene, reducing tech time and kindness.

In school, we follow Shahana Knight's Wellbeing Curriculum.

The Wellbeing Curriculum puts mental health and emotional wellbeing at the core of education. It is underpinned by the 4 key qualities we believe children need to learn about in order to flourish in life.

  1. Their mental health

  2. Self-belief

  3. Positive mindset

  4. Emotional intelligence
